Wine vs paperwork

I keep trying to do paperwork but this pint of wine keeps getting in the way.

I've been away for a couple of days, and for once it hasn't really given me anything to blog about - sure, there was the accidental two hour walk in London (don't worry, it was offset with fish, chips, and beer), plus the obligatory dash across Doncaster rail station on the way home to get my connecting train before it cleared off, but otherwise it was a fairly quiet and productive couple of days.

But, I did have an idea for something.  I'm not going to talk about it now, but suffice to say that it involves social media.  And I'd love for you to help!

What do you think of social media?  How do you use it?  What websites/apps do you use?  What is good and bad?

Let me know in the comments below.  And I might do something with it! Thanks :)

Now - back to the wine!

  1. I use Facebook and Google+ - it's kind of where I play. Rarely do anything serious one them. I prefer serious face-to-face and then not a whole lot of that... I'm retired, I don't need drama and the serious stuff better be about something that interests me (of course, that is a pretty broad category). Besides, there's so much crap on social media that is just garbage and not true. Frankly, I couldn't care less what Susie Q thinks of Donald Trump or what Don Knucklehead thinks of Hillary Clinton. World politics and politicians... forget about it. And I don't Tweet... you can't make me. I don't Pinterest... I',m just not that pinterested. I do have a free web page on wix.com... I'm too cheap to pay for a domain and server of my own.

    1. Fair enough :) I've tried Pinterest but really don't see the point of it.

  2. I use Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Google +, Instagram, Tumblr, anything I can put on my phone. I am lousy at all of them, an absolute moron, hopeless, helpless, and completely incompetent. But, I love them all, there is something fascinating about looking into the lives of people all over the world, These are the tools that have the power to save the world, and I am trying to do my part.

    1. I can see your point Tim. A while back I did a sort of random trawl of blogs, and found some really interesting ones.

  3. Social Media are just platforms - they themselves are "neutral" - your customers and businesses are on them. Period.

Now it is YOUR work to use a smart tool that cuts through the noise on those networks and find and focus those valuable people that are happy to pay you for the services and know how you provide.

After many years I learned that if you do not use smart tools that really help you, you just keep yourself busy with social media management. Meaning: a lot - I mean A LOT! - of so called "social media management" tools keep you busy micromanaging yourself, creating filters, views, tabs, windows, reports and god knows what.

What I now use gives me total control and cuts down the time using social media. I have ONE smart inbox without any distracting management tools that give me the illusion I "get something done on social media".

They key to using social media successfully is the balance of putting out enough interesting information (that you can of course pre-schedule!) and interacting with REAL people in real time or at least very fast follow up.

Are you interested in what I am using that helps me?

I would be happy to tell you - just message me via my website!

  4. I use Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. I rerun a website, www.walkinginmydestiny.com, and I share my posts in these social media sites. I am a former truck driver, and I have many posts about the adventures, successes and failures that go with that job, as well as post things I feel the Lord speaks to me about. I have started another category, one that will display success stories of those who have lost weight. I am also open to writing other things, and taking suggestions of others. I also use social media to try to build relationships around the world through reading others' blogs. We can all learn from each other.

  5. I'm sorry, I left out Pinterest. But I mainly use it to keep up with recipes, as we are on a weight loss journey ourselves.
